igdal Arquitectos combines the talents of three young, innovative Mexican architects, Jaime Varon, Abraham Metta, and Alex Metta. In work ranging from residential complexes to bus stations to corporate facilities, these architects design for a growing Mexico City. In her contextualizing introduction, Louise Noelle explains how Migdal distinguished itself from its predecessors and began constructing a new future for Mexico:

Faced with this predominance of nostalgia for things traditional, several groups of young professionals soon emerged, Migdal Arquitectos among them, who sought to break with an inertia that was already showing signs of fatigue and a lack of creativity. Their solutions were based on both the conditions of globalization, which brought the technological advances of the developed countries within their reach, and an exercise in austerity brought on by minimalism. In view of the enormous range of possibilities and the needs of a society eager to keep with the times, their architectural proposals offered new plastic solutions, while at the same time observing the principles of quality in construction and social engagement. With a consciousness of both modernism and Mexico’s vibrant traditional art forms, Migdal’s work comes out of the past and looks toward the future, exhibited in this monograph through color photos and black and white drawings.
